idk if this is an unpopular opinion at this point but i am so not into the memeification of donald trump post-presidency and the making of him into this intensely funny man. “he shouldn’t have gone into politics, he should have been a guest judge on rupaul’s drag race!” ok????? the man is a rapist. this odious man is responsible for inflicting so much violence on so many people, and that’s not some wild exaggeration. any time there is a small part of me that wants to concede that a catty comment he made was funny, i just think of what both his presidency and his own direct personal actions have done to women and undocumented people (to name just two vulnerable groups of people), and that small part of me that wants to laugh at donald trump’s “””funny””” comment dies. and it’s not even like the tiktoks and internet comments making him into some comedian are punching up, so to speak - they’re giving him attention and validation that i honestly think he’s thriving from.

people talk about how awful the post-bush presidency “””redemption arc””” was, with people depicting GWB as some kooky, benignly stupid old man who likes to paint. and i just think, have people learned nothing from that whole shit show? i refuse to even inadvertently soften the image of these evil, evil men who have inflicted such harm upon the world.

Gideon always liked the way Kremy looked when he smoked, but like in an ironic way, of course. Noticed how the burning embers perfectly reflecting in his golden eyes, Gideon Nathaniel Coal, was never a man of flowery poetry… but for Kremy, his buddy ol’ pal, he can’t help but think he’s as beautiful as a sunset in autumn.

The biggest misconception in the bsd fandom ever to me is people constantly portraying Atsushi as someone who trauma dumps excessively when he canonically barely talks about it at all.

The entire point is that Atsushi does not talk about his trauma he’s just constantly thinking about/reliving it. He can’t escape the memories of his past so he tries not to acknowledge them.

He only mentions it when asked, either directly or when someone asks him to explain himself.

Atsushi doesn’t even give a cohesive explanation for what he saw while under Dogra Magra, he just apologizes to Haruno and Naomi.

If Lucy hadn’t had her whole “you’ve never suffered the way I have” spiel then I doubt even the audience would’ve gotten to find out about his scars

If Akutagawa never asked him how it felt for the orphanage headmaster to die Atsushi would have never told him that he’s been hallucinating.

In the omake where Kyoka asks him why his hair is like that it’s clear he wouldn’t have told her that unless she had asked.

In 55 minutes Atsushi very briefly mentions sleeping on a dirty floor somewhere to Kunikida because he was trying to explain and justify his behavior.

And the thing is that there are scenes that implies that the other characters see Atsushi behaving strangely and are visibly confused because they do not understand what’s wrong with him.

Remember, we as an audience get to see things about characters that the main cast doesn’t. Just because we see into Atsushi’s mind doesn’t mean the other characters know what’s going on in there.

Also little footnote here that I think this is a reference to the moon over the mountain but I digress

Honestly I cannot overstate how much seeing Hayden as TCW Anakin changed EVERYTHING. Matt Lanter's Anakin is a frat dude. He wears a backwards baseball hat and says vaguely offensive things without realizing, while being a fundamentally chill and outgoing guy at heart. Hayden's Anakin is... not that. His voice. His expressions. His physical presence. It's off somehow. It's just left of normal. It's completely unremarkable and yet deeply uncanny for reasons you can't quite describe. TCW Anakin was always a flatter, blander portrayal, but I don't think I realized until now what exactly was missing: the serial killer energy. The inarticulable conviction that SOMETHING unhinged is going on behind those eyes.

And the amount of likes for all of these posts (all of which are from gimmick accounts with 10-100k+ followers dedicated to hating women) shows that. Men do not see us as human beings. Straight men’s interest and attraction to women starts and end with sexual gratification. And there’s no reason to even explain this to other women as if it’s some hidden truth. They will literally tell you. They will get online and tell you they aren’t emotionally and romantically interested in women. That the concept of actually caring for and loving a woman is foreign to them. That you’re a sex doll and a set of holes to them.

Like who needs feminist theory to dissect all the ways in which misogyny manifests when it seems men are doing everything in their power to show women how much they fucking collectively hate us. Even blatantly regarding us as holes and sex dolls.

Also find it so interesting that these are tweets with millions of views but so called progressive twitter NEVER sees them or condemns them and instead opt to give attention to some random radfem with 300 followers saying men bad. THATS what’s a pressing issue to them. THATS proof that misandry is as prevalent and troublesome as misogyny meanwhile this is what women are subjected to.
